Specializing in Clarinet, Piano and Private Music Education

About
Kathleen Edwards is a private Clarinet, Piano and Saxophone teacher, and small group winds coach in the Tri-City area. She believes music education to be critical in student success. Kathleen aspires to meet each student's individual needs so they may be able to cultivate their knowledge and love for music to best fit their goals and lifestyle.Â
Born in Seattle, Washington, Kathleen grew up taking piano lessons from the age of five. Wanting to expand her love of music, she began playing Clarinet at eleven. Having found a thrill for sharing music with others and performing, Kathleen went on to compete and earn all superior ratings in the Washington State Solo and Ensemble contest. This passion led her to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Clarinet Performance at Central Washington University. Kathleen became an avid performer in many ensembles at CWU, playing in the premier Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. These groups opened up the opportunity for her to play in many great works, as well as being featured on Bass Clarinet and Eb Clarinet in Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 2.Â
Throughout her musical career, Kathleen has found a new love for teaching. From private teaching to coaching sectionals in the Greater Boulder Youth Orchestra, Kathleen believes in valuing her student relationships as a key component to building well-rounded humans and musicians.  Â
Kathleen resides in Kennewick, Washington and enjoys traveling, drinking coffee, hiking, reading, cooking, and playing Clarinet and Marimba duets with her husband, Taylor.
